10 Tips and Tricks for a Flawless At Home Tan
Step 1: Exfoliate and remove hair the day before
Exfoliating 24 hours before you tan will remove dead skin cells and provide you with a smooth canvas which is crucial for an even result. Make sure to give extra attention to areas like your ankles, elbows, and knees which tend to dry out faster.
Step 2: Avoid deodorant, perfume, and lotion prior to tanning and while tan is developing
These products have oils in them that will form a barrier on the skin resulting in an uneven tan or even a green color to the tan!
Step 3: Select the correct tan for your skin tone
Did you know that the dreaded orange look is caused when your skin is exposed to more DHA(Tanning Activator) than your skin tone can handle? Check out this simple way to figure out which tanning mousse is right for you!
- Very pale skin, never tans, always burns- Stick to our June Blush
- Pale to medium skin, tans slowly, burns sometimes- June Blush or July Glow

Step 4: The Magic Wand is a Tanning Mitt
A tanning mitt protects your hands from staining and also gives a smooth streak-free application. The soft velvet texture blends the mousse perfectly every time!
Step 5: Let there be light!
Make sure you are applying your tan in a space that has enough light. You will be able to see any areas that may need to be blended more or spots that need more product.
Step 6: Apply to larger areas and then use residual mousse on mitt to hands and feet.
This will ensure you are not over-applying to areas that only need a little tan solution.
Step 7: Allow Your Tan To Dry Before Dressing
Our mousse is fast drying, but you may have areas that still feel a little sticky after application. Once it has dried for 5 minutes, if you still have spots that don’t feel quite dry, sparingly apply pure cornstarch baby powder to absorb the excess moisture. Areas that may need some power tend to be, backs of knees, under breasts, and folds on the stomach.
Step 8: Less is more when rinsing!
When you are ready to rinse off use cool water, no soap, no scrubs, and pat dry with a towel. Just rinse until the water runs clear, no need to soak for hours!
Step 9: Moisturize to keep your tan going
Keeping your skin well hydrated will not only help you tan last for up to 10 days, it will also help it to fade evenly!
